“Just relax and let your mind go blank. That shouldn’t be too hard for you.” – Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine
I found this quote to be quite telling of the film. I will not give away specifics of the film for those who still have see it. I will say that this film will knock your socks off visually. It is the best CGI I have ever seen. There are actually times where you forget you are watching CGI of blue humanoids. In some scenes the details of the graphics is so well done that you fully become emersed in the fictional world of Pandora. If you go into this film thinking it will give you an elaborate original story, then you may be disappointed. If you are just “going for the ride” or are interested in how 3D should be done, then you will leave the theater quite satisfied. Personally I left quite happy. I think it is ridiculous to see a movie in theaters when they charge you fifteen dollars to get in, so normally films I see in the theater I do not approve of. I often only go if I have an extremely high interest in seeing them. I mean, I generally go to the theater once a year. Avatar is definitively worth seeing.
The dragon ball movie looks really stupid. Don’t believe me look for yourself.

On the other hand Terminator 4 looks really good. I was quite skeptical. I had always wanted to see a terminator film set in the post-apopcalyptic world. That was at least until the third film, which to say wasn’t that good. Then I was really skeptical about the film. Then I heard that Christian Bale was going to play John Connor, and I know Bale is an excellent actor, that maybe the movie could be done right. Well, more hope has come to this in the form of a trailer. Take a look below!

This is bad ass. I saw it twice, one on IMAX and a regular screening. I am going to have to see it again. It is only 70 million dollars away from overtaking Titanic as the most succesfful film in it’s history. I think that is attainable, and I know I will contribute my 10 dollars to the cause. It is due out on on Jan 23rd 2009! Here is the link to the slashfilm article.
Yes Man

So I have come to a realization. Reading can be a wonderful thing. Ok, in all honesty, I knew that all ready. I was going for dramatic effect, which probably was a failure epic proportions.
Anyway, I have recently picked up a copy of Danny Wallace’s book, Yes Man. It is about a man who says yes to any favor, suggestion, or question to try and experience new things and crawl out of a rut in his own life. I am about half way through the book, and I realized an interesting parallel. I am Danny Wallace. No, not literally, but I have been in a rut myself for several reasons. Among these are missing good friends (who I don’t get to see often enough), personal insecurities (although I do not claim them to be insecurities at this time), and family matters (no not the television show). But upon reading about a quarter way through Yes Man, I realized that when I was a more happy lad, it was because I said yes to more things. I said yes to more experiences, even ones that made me uncomfortable. Mostly because they were in my job description, but also because I wanted to grow as a person. Now that things are different than I once had, I haven’t made the best of my opportunities, which is what Danny Wallace is really talking about. That and positivism. Something I have always lacked. It isn’t easy being a “yes man” but from this night forward I will try harder. Funny thing is an excellent level 3 yevel, as Wallace calls it, has already crossed my path … I haven’t replied.
I know I should say yes, it is the Wallace code! I am not making an oath to say yes for a year just be more open to positivism and opprotunity. What if I say yes to this opprotunity and it is awkward? What if I say no, think of the opprotunities to gain new friends I could lose…
As for the book Yes Man it is really a great read. It is by a British author so it can be slightly troubling to read. I don’t know British slang so I don’t know the exact things he is talking about all the time. I do feel however, that I am getting the overall message of each of his stories. I find Wallace is a good writer. Excellent fluidity (so far) and it is a page turner. At the end of every chapter I find myself wanting to read more and more. I want to know what his next adventure will be. I also often laugh out loud (lol) at his jokes and funny experiences. I really recommend this book to other people to read. The first half anyway.
Wallace started off the book saying that he is writing his experiences to maybe help someone, that is the object of the book. Maybe, maybe not. He has written other books, so maybe it is about money too. But this book may be on the road to helping me. So maybe he is right.
Also the book is being made into a movie starring Jim Carrey. It is due out in the U.S. on the big screen on December 19th. If you wish, you may click here to see a trailer of the movie. You may also want to check out the book here. The movie tie in edition has an extra chapter.

I Can't Believe It…

They are making a Transporter 3. I actually liked the first one, but the second one was horrible, and the third looks to be the worst of them all. But that isn’t even the worst part of it. The worst part is, that it looks to be a ripoff of another movie that he did called Crank. In Crank he has to do something to keep him alive, in this movie he has to stay within 75 feet of his car or he’ll explode. Jason Statham is good at choreographed martial arts, I’ll give him that, but seriously he freaking makes some horrible movies. I know this is one movie I will not be going to see in the theaters.
